Technology Center Becomes a Reality
Governor Ed Rendell was in Bloomsburg PA to open the Bloomsburg Regional Technology center in Bloomsburg PA.
Karl has played a critical role in getting the technology center off the ground to attract technology companies and e-learning companies to the Bloomsburg area. He even helped to land the first tenant..a dotcom high school which currently has over 14 graduates from Bloomsburg university;s department of instructional technology.

Karl had the idea and vision for a technology center in Bloomsburg a number of years ago and was actually laughed out of some offices on campus but he preserved and today, the technology center is a reality. The concept is to aggregate technology in the local area and focus people's attention on the fact that Bloomsburg does have a strong technological base and to provide space for new and upcoming companies.
If you have a business and would like to consider the Technology center as a home, please contact Karl and he can help you get started. For more information and to download a brochure, click here.
Getting the technology center off the ground took about five years of political navigating. We dealt with campus issues, state issues and federal issues. Early in the process we met with Congressman Kanjorksi. He visited the Bloomsburg University campus and specifically stoped by the Institute for Interactive Technologies to discuss the possibilities of the technology center. Karl co-presented information to the Congressman on the IIT and its various initiatives throughout the region. The Congressman indicated that he thought the Institute for Interactive Technologies was an "under utilized resource" in the region

We finally knew we would get the technology center off the ground when we got our first million dollar check from then Governor Mark Schweiker who is a graduate of Bloomsburg University.
Karl Kapp poses with a million dollar
check from former Governor Mark Schweiker .
Former PA Governor Mark Schweiker was in Bloomsburg PA to provide a check for one million dollars to help fund a technology center in Bloomsburg PA.
This check along with one from governor Rendell and help from congressman Kanjorksi has allowed the creation of the technology center. The center is a place to aggregate technology in the local area and focus people's attention on the fact that Bloomsburg does have a strong technological base.
Also a special thanks to PA State Senator John Gordner. Who was a huge supporter of the effort and who also sponsored House Bill 538 which establishes the Technology Work Experience Internship Program, which is to be administered by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency. Under the program, college students will have the opportunity to obtain a college- or university-approved internship or work experience in a science, technology or related field with an emerging technology employer in the Commonwealth. The bill provides some funding to help employers with this effort. Visit SenatorJohn Gordner's web site.
Also a special thanks to David Millard, PA House of Representatives who offered his support and assistance throughout the process. Vist Representative David Millard at his web site.
