My View of Teaching, Consulting and Learning

I believe teaching/education/learning is an interactive exchange between students and the instructor that can take place both within and outside of the classroom or online environment and consulting is an exchange between client and consultant. My graduate level teaching and my work with corporate a number of corporate professionals reflects my belief that learning and understanding stems from interaction.

All of my classes, seminars and consulting engagements include a problem-based learning approach. This approach requires students and trainees to conduct original thinking, thinking outside the box, and problem identification and analysis. I don't "give answers" instead; I guide individuals to their own conclusions, their own answers, and their own learning.

Learners must interact with the material and apply theory to gain answers. Theory is important but practical application is critical to success. My instructional methods can be challenging at times and require a tremendous amount effort, however, the results are phenomenal--almost 100% employment rate of students leaving the graduate program and professionals constantly rate my seminars as some of the best they've ever attended.

My instructional and learning methodologies ensure that knowledge is retained, learning is applied and results are visible. I am not afraid to go the extra mile to help people learn or to help them adjust to technology (hopefully with a sense of humor).

To me, technology is only a tool, it is not a means to an end. I am NOT a "techie" interested in technology for technology's sake, instead, I view technology as a catalyst to corporate process improvement and as a means of sharing ideas and knowledge across distances.

I help organizations and individuals achieve success through technology tools and thier own intuitive wisdom. I believe that good training and teaching is quatifiable and that learning can be measured.

People make and use technology and people need to come first!
